These are some of our photos from places my husband and I have experienced. We hope that our views of these places will inspire you to visit the areas yourself to take in the whole picture.
We hope to bring you joy by sharing our views and adventures with you. Thoughts of you are behind every shot I take, so essentially, you are with us on these adventures. I welcome you, our travel companions, to check out my YouTube channel as well for a better feel of the areas we visit. (Souvenirs of our adventures together are available should you desire them.)
San Felipe de Neri Church, Albuquerque, NM
This shot was taken mid summer in Old Town Albuquerque, New Mexico. This historic Catholic Church was built in 1793.
We were literally breathless when this photo was taken. It is a mid summer shot on the Sandia Crest Trail outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico. You can view the hike on my YouTube Channel ErnesTina Burke. Here is a link to the video https://youtu.be/q0mrVJnaRro
Little Barn in the Valles Caldera
This is a barn and corral near the Longmire Cabin in the Valles Caldera National Park. It is about a 2 mile, not too strenuous, hike from the ranger station to the cabins. This was taken in February and the temperature when we started this hike was in the teens. We finished the hike with slightly higher temps in the mid twenties. So, yes, enjoy the pictures and the YouTube videos of this hike from the comfort of your warm and cozy couch.
This is a stream running along Battleship Rock in Jemez, New Mexico.
Battleship Rock, New Mexico
Not to be confused with Shiprock which is located farther North.
This is a beautiful day use/picnic area near Jemez Springs, New Mexico. There are great hiking trails along the San Antonio and East Fork Jemez Rivers. As you enjoy the area, you get to take in views of this majestic cliff from all angles.
The Gilman Tunnels, Jemez, New Mexico
These are the famous Gilman Tunnels. These tunnels were created in the 1920's. They were initially used for the railroad to transport lumber. The tracks were removed and now you can drive the country road through them. This is a relaxing drive. I highly suggest you plan on eating lunch in Jemez Springs. I have a video of this drive as well as of one of the Jemez Springs restaurants on my YouTube Channel. https://youtu.be/xNZ4VZLm2jk for the Gilman Tunnel trip and https://youtu.be/D89PXNC5tEY to visit the Jemez Springs Stage Stop Cafe. The temperatures were very low when we made this trip, so I am sure you will appreciate being able to share this experience with us from the comfort and warmth of your own home.
Jemez Historic Site
Talk about a hidden gem! Even though this place is right on the main road in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. I didn't know it existed until this trip. This very special place is awe inspiring. Pictures and videos do not do this place justice. The feeling is what needs to be experienced here. I did my best with the YouTube video I made here, but, all I can say is if you are in the area, take the time to stop and visit this place for yourself. If you can't visit, my video can be found at https://youtu.be/isqXaazwKSU.
You will find ruins of a 500 year old village of the Giusewa people and the mission of San Jose de los Jemez.
Love in the Valles Caldera
So, did I mention this place is breathtaking? Our two mile hike took a long time to complete as I wanted to stop every few feet to catch another view. It's a good thing my husband loves me, because I drive him nuts with this sometimes. That, and the animals, but that page is coming. . .
Quiet Reflection at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park is between Angel Fire and Eagle Nest, New Mexico. The area surrounding this park is some of the most beautiful scenery you will experience in New Mexico. Alpine meadows, beautiful lakes and majestic mountain ranges surround you. The beauty and peace of the area adds to the simple beauty of this memorial.
Historic Huey Helicopter
I was blessed with the opportunity to meet a gentleman who was visiting this memorial at the same time as I was. He told his story of how he flew a helicopter just like this one, to myself and his wife, as we strolled through the memorial together. That chance meeting made this an even more special experience than I expected to have.
I do have a YouTube video that shows most of the memorial. I did not include the discussions had with my "by chance" travel companion, as it was pretty personal. I do want to share the experience of visiting this memorial with you as it is one that is very dear to my heart. You can find the video at https://youtu.be/vwoSFe9EAR4
The Sandbar- Colorado River
This is one of favorite shots taken on the famous Sand bar which lies just North of Lake Havasu on the Colorado River.
In the summer, this is a very busy recreation area for boaters. You will find hundreds of individuals having a good time and socializing in the shallow water. In the "off season", it's just a nice place to kick back and enjoy nature, as well as, watch the occasional boat go by.
Yes, I do happen to have a YouTube video of this visit. You can find it at https://youtu.be/Ehzr4ed8U2M
This wall of rock was captured on a scenic drive we took on the back road to Placitas, New Mexico. This was a fun little drive. There were lots of little areas to enjoy a picnic or hike along the way. You can experience this drive with us by viewing the video at https://youtu.be/MPcZUPcW2EQ
Zion National Park
This place speaks for itself. We were finally able to get out there a couple of years ago. This was an amazing trip. We want to go back when we have longer than a couple of days to spend exploring.
I have a slide show of the experience on YouTube. You can find this at https://youtu.be/kBXIxpkf-nQ
Sunset on Lake Havasu
This photo was taken in the middle of Lake Havasu in Arizona. This is absolutely one of our favorite places to be. Floating in our boat, relaxing and enjoying the sunset, now, that's life!
Tent Rocks in North Central New Mexico
We had a great day hiking through this magical area. Be sure to take lots of water if you plan on hiking in to see these spectacular sights.
Entering the Slot Canyon at Tent Rocks Kasha-Katuwe
This could be entering another world. What a great place to explore and meet new people!
Slot Canyon Adventure
We had such an amazing time on this hike! Beauty can be found around every bend. Which is good, because I needed frequent rest stops and the excuse of taking pictures and video came in handy quite often.
There are so many great places to relax at Conchas Lake. This was one of my favorite views. You can see more on my YouTube Channel, ErnesTina Burke
Visiting the Valle Caldera was an amazing experience. This place is so beautiful and so close to home. I will be visiting this area more often!

The sandbar on the Colorado River is a great place to stop and relax and people watch, boat watch and bird watch.
These little guys were just relaxing and people watching at Zion National Park.
Early morning friend
Making friends is always fun on the road. Taking backroads in New Mexico, you will often come across someone interesting.
This is an awesome hike! A must see. It took us way to many years to visit this area. It is so close to home, we will be back.
Early evening moonrise
Winter morning river walk
I had fun playing with the light and brush in this area.
Winter and a small river
The temperature was low, but our spirits were high on this road trip.
Do you see what I see?
I see a snake in this root found at Tent Rocks in New Mexico. Some people have said it looks like a fish. Yet others say a root. I personally like to find objects within objects.
Flowers by the river
Such a beautiful morning.
Baby Shoes and Rubber Ducky
Baby steps, I just have to keep reminding myself, it's all about the baby steps.
Rocks in the stream
Ice Cold Water
I was just fascinated with the ice formations along the trail I was on.
This critter just seemed to be saying I want my picture taken! Yes, I talk to all my subjects. That includes inanimate objects.
I have a thing for fence lines.
Log cabins are just plain cool. I think this was actually a barn of some sort. There was a corral hooked to it.
Special touches during a newborn photo session.
The sunsets in New Mexico are pretty spectacular many evenings. This evening was just simply bizarre.
A gentle touch can say so much.
Another creepy cloud
No color modifications needed on these shots.
A Grandma's Touch
Never let go!
Love those feet!
Baby feet are just too precious!
Old Wagon Wheels
These wagon wheels were in Old Lincoln. Such a wonderful place to visit. Lots of history in this little town.
If this porch could talk, oh, the stories it could tell!
Flowers, Bees and Butterflies
These are some of my most recent pictures of flowers, bees and butterflies. I will be processing many of these pictures into note cards soon. If you have any special requests, please email me via my contacts page. I would be happy to help you out with prints or note cards featuring my photography.
So, I have this obsession with critters of all kinds. These are just a few of the friends I have made…
Anna is a rescue dog who caught my heart with a picture on the internet.
Pit Bull Pick Me Up
When I talk about rolling around on the ground for a shot, this is what I mean. This was one of those in-between moments that I love so much. This little guy seemed to be asking "will you still love me when the baby comes?"
Just chillin with my bone!
Brigitte is ready for her close up
This goat knows how to pose!
This little roadrunner just let me snap away. I had close to a half hour photo shoot with him. This was my favorite picture of him.
Is this my best side?
This little deer was content to keep eating while I took her portraits.
I was out on a photo shoot with subjects of the human realm and these guys were posing for us doing their best human impersonation.
I just love the sky in New Mexico. No filters needed. The ducks and geese were kinda cool too!
Brigitte Bar Doe
Brigitte Bar Doe is one of my favorite models. She is absolutely smashing in this barnyard chic scarf of bailing twine. She is an absolute Diva as well, just ask the other models in this show.
Sandy thinks this is her best side.
Good Morning Cow
Always be aware when traveling back roads. You just may come up close and personal with the locals.
Ha ha ha! Your jokes are so funny!
Seriously though. . .This lion is a great actor.
My friend the Peacock
This lovely peacock let me photograph him for about 15 minutes. He walked right up as I was taking photos of something else and started pecking at my leg. It was like he was saying my turn!
Sandy Goat again
Sandy has a natural smile.
This peacock was absolutely dashing! Such a ham too!
